A territorial dispute between two homeless men led to the stabbing that occurred late Sunday evening, said San Luis Obispo Police Lt. Bill Proll, who was unable to provide more details about the incident.

Police say they have arrested David Allen Purdy, 60, of San Luis Obispo in connection with the stabbing of Donald Bruce, 55, also of San Luis Obispo.
When officers arrived at the scene near Tank Farm Road and the Southern Pacific Railroad tracks, Bruce identified Purdy as his assailant, according to the San Luis Obispo Police Department.
Officers found Purdy in a homeless encampment nearby. They arrested him on suspicion of attempted murder.
Purdy was booked into San Luis Obispo County Jail, where he remained in custody as of late Sunday in lieu of $500,000 bail.

The San Luis Obispo Fire Department reports that its paramedics and San Luis Ambulance medics treated a homeless man who was stabbed multiple times on Sunday afternoon.
About 4:20 p.m., they and the San Luis Obispo Police Department responded to an area near a creek off of Tank Farm Road after learning of the attack.
His injuries werent life threatening, according to the Fire Department.
Fire Department paramedics treated the man whose name was not disclosed at the scene, and San Luis Ambulance medics took him to an undisclosed local hospital for evaluation and treatment.
Authorities did not have any other information on the incident as of late Sunday night.
