The King Davids Lodge at 859 Marsh St. in San Luis Obispo has a new look.
The structure has undergone a major facelift that has restored the historic building to its original 1913 appearance.
The wood-framed building, known in recent years for its long-term commercial tenant, Laws Hobby Shop, and now for occupants Founders Community Bank and Central Coast Surfboards, underwent a modernization in the mid-1970s.
In 2009, the awning above Laws Hobby Shop was torn down in anticipation of the construction project.
The new pediment is a neoclassic arch reminiscent of the 1913 facade.
The $70,000 project was paid for with rental income collected by the lodge from its tenants.
King Davids Lodge No. 209, Free and Accepted Masons was founded in 1870. In 1913, The Hall Association and Lodge constructed the building at 859 Marsh at a cost of $70,000.
