The 21-year-old Paso Robles resident was struck and killed by a train early Saturday in Paso Robles. His family said he was celebrating his 21st birthday Friday night.
Investigators are still trying to determine why Brady was lying on the tracks about 150 feet north of 13th Street when a northbound freight train hit him about 6:30 a.m., Union Pacific spokesman Aaron Hunt said Monday.
Sheriffs Department spokesman Rob Bryn said an autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday. He said results of a toxicology test wouldnt be available for about three weeks.
Paso Robles police said Saturday the engineer saw Brady but was unable to stop the 78-car train in time. There were no other witnesses to the crash.
Brady worked for the Robert Hall Winery production team for 5 years. His father, Don Brady, has been a winemaker there for 10 years.
His family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations in Bradys name be made to the Boys & Girls Club of North San Luis Obispo County.
Donations may be made at www.bgc.paso.org or mailed to the Boys & Girls Club, P.O. Box 3037, Paso Robles, CA 93447.
Those interested in assisting with the memorial service can e-mail events@roberthallwinery.com.
