Monday is your last day to register to vote in August's special election
Bob Cuddy
The last day to register to vote in the Aug. 17 special election for California's 15th state Senate District is Monday, County Clerk-Recorder Julie Rodewald has announced.Voter registrations must be postmarked or received in the County Clerk-Recorders office by that day for voters to be eligible to vote, she wrote in a news release.Voters who have moved or wish to change their political party must complete a new voter registration card. Any voter registering by the deadline will receive a postcard with a polling place location. They will not, however, receive the sample ballot booklet issued by the county. It is available on the County Clerks web site, http://www.slocounty.ca.gov/clerk.htm. The election is being held to fill the state Senate seat vacated by Abel Maldonado when he accepted an appointment by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger to become lieutenant governor.Four candidates are seeing to replace him: Republican Assemblyman Sam Blakeslee, Democrat John Laird, Libertarian Mark Hinkle and Independent Jim Fitzgerald.
