The site that once housed half of the McCarthy Wholesale used-car dealership — and more recently Sky River RV and SLO Vespa — at 11 Higuera St. in San Luis Obispo has been bought to house a Range Master store and indoor shooting range, Mike Spangler, the building’s former owner, has confirmed.
The 8,500-square-foot, single-story building was purchased by Leland O’Reilly at the end of June for $1.4 million, Spangler said.
“It was a pretty good deal, especially in this economy,” Spangler added.
Sky River RV, which took its Airstream trailers off the lot earlier this month, had moved some of its operations to the former McCarthy dealership in October, along with a Vespa dealer, said Mike Beardsley, who spoke on behalf of Sky River RV.
The recreational vehicle retailer is looking to move to another location in San Luis Obispo. It is maintaining its headquarters at 2525 Theatre Drive in Paso Robles. SLO Vespa is now at 1330 Monterey St. in San Luis Obispo.
Range Master is moving from its location on Granada Drive in San Luis Obispo. John and Marcia Perry, who own the store, were not available to comment on when the building’s remodeling would be complete.
Range Master will sell guns, ammunition and law-enforcement paraphernalia, in addition to offering the indoor firing range, Spangler said.
O’Reilly also owns College Towing, an auto-wrecking service in San Luis Obispo and Grover Beach.
