Appeals of three projects in Harmony will be heard by the state Coastal Commission when it meets for three days starting Aug. 11 in San Luis Obispo.
The local items will be heard Wednesday morning in the county Board of Supervisors chambers.
The commission will hear appeals of three small-scale projects in the Harmony area between Cayucos and Cambria.
Two commissioners and the Sierra Club have appealed a permit granted to the SDS Family Trust to build a barn and remove an existing public access way west of Highway 1 and adjacent to the ocean near Cayucos.
The SDS Family Trust and the Schneider Family Trust have appealed a permit given to State Parks to make improvements to Harmony Headlands State Park. These improvements include signs, an information kiosk, bridge rails and an iron ranger fee-collection tube.
Two commissioners have appealed a permit granted to Eunice Goodan to construct a 5,000-square-foot home, a 5,000-gallon water tank, and various drainage and landscape improvements on a bluff-top area at 500 Harmony Ranch Road about two miles south of Cambria. The permit also allows an existing home to be converted to a farm-support residence.
The commission will also hear requests by the county to make several changes to its local coastal planning rules that provide the framework for the countys coastline. The Coastal Commission typically holds one of its monthly meetings a year in San Luis Obispo.
