A judge increased the bail amount Thursday by nearly $200,000 in the case of an Atascadero woman accused of causing the accident that killed a CHP officer after a prosecutor argued she was a flight risk.
Kaylee Ann Weisenberg, 22, pleaded not guilty to felony vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence in the death of CHP Officer Brett Oswald, as well as to the charge of driving with a suspended license.

Bail had originally been set by Superior Court Judge John Trice at $52,000, but prosecutor Lee Cunningham argued that Weisenberg was a flight risk.
Cunningham said Weisenberg ran away from home at 17 and used a fictitious name in a previous traffic collision. But before Cunningham could continue his argument, defense lawyer Jere Sullivan objected.
Sullivan said the information Cunningham was presenting was prejudicial against his client and shouldn’t have been introduced in court.
Trice ruled to stop the discussion and seal the public record on Weisenberg’s background regarding her bail situation. Still, Trice increased her bail to $250,000.
Weisenberg also faces an additional $6,500 in bail for failure to appear in court on a previous misdemeanor charge, according to the County Jail website.
Oswald, 47, was waiting for a tow truck to haul an abandoned vehicle on South River Road near Spanish Camp Road when Weisenberg turned a corner and lost control of her vehicle just after 6:30 p.m. June 27.
The left front end of Weisenberg’s car, a copper-colored Toyota Corolla, allegedly hit the left front of the officer’s vehicle, and the CHP car then was pushed into Oswald, CHP Sgt. Tim Newman said.
Exactly how the impact occurred and other information — including the rate of speed — are being investigated by the CHP’s Multidisciplinary Accident Investigation Team.
CHP officials are also still waiting for the results of Weisenberg’s toxicology exam.
