County Roundup: Kathy Smith and Andrea Miller file letters of intent to run for SLO City Council
San Luis Obispo: Former City Councilwoman Kathy Smith and former city planning Commissioner Andrea Miller have both filed letters of intent to run for the San Luis Obispo City Council in November. Three of the citys five council seats are up for re-election in November: Mayor Dave Romeros two-year seat and the four-year seats held by Councilmen Allen Settle and Andrew Carter.Smith is former executive director of the San Luis Obispo Literacy Council and co-owner of the Garden Street Inn in downtown San Luis Obispo. She was appointed to the council in 1994 and served for four years before resigning to move out of the area.
Miller is the owner of Spikes Pub in downtown San Luis Obispo and was on the Planning Commission for several years. Also running for council is Dan Carpenter, chairman of the Cultural Heritage Committee, and Carter, who is seeking re-election. Councilwoman Jan Marx and former Councilman Paul Brown have both announced their intent to run for mayor. Candidates for logistics positions may have skills and experience in real estate management, building maintenance, facilities management or budgeting.Logistics volunteers work behind the scenes in warehouses, shelters and disaster operations centers to procure, track and distribute necessary supplies.
