Blues rout Seals in San Jose
The San Luis Obispo Blues pounded out 16 hits Monday in a 10-3 summer collegiate nonleague baseball win over the San Jose Seals at Evans Diamond in Berkeley.Cal State Fullertons Austin Kingsolver, Texas A&Ms Matt Juengel and Kansas States Mike Kindel each had three hits for the Blues (18-9), who last week were ranked No. 16 nationally and have won 13 of their past 15.Kingsolver, who had a double and a triple, finished with a game-best two RBI, as did teammate Rafael Neda of New Mexico.Fresno States J.D. Salles picked up the win, scattering five hits and giving up one run through six innings. He struck out four batters and walked one.Former Mission Prep star Dylan Morrow, now at San Jose State, pitched the ninth inning, yielding two runs on two hits. The Rattlers (10-17, 4-16 California Collegiate League) fell at SLO Stadium.Nigel Morton was a team-best 3 for 4 for the Rattlers, while incoming Cal Poly freshman Jimmy Allen, as well as Northern Illinois Joe Etcheverry, had two hits.Former San Luis Obispo High standout David Schultz, now at Cuesta College, drove in one of the Rattlers runs with a ninth-inning double.
