San Luis Obispo Rattlers outfielder Zach Steele scored the winning run on a passed ball in the eighth inning, giving the Rattlers a 2-1 win over the MLB Urban Youth Academy Barons on Sunday at SLO Stadium.
Steele, a sophomore at Cuesta College, was 2 for 4 with a double and scored both runs for the Rattlers (10-16, 4-15 California Collegiate League).
Arroyo Grande High grad Todd Simko, a junior at Cuesta College, allowed two hits and an unearned run in five innings as the Rattlers starter. The left-hander walked three and struck out four.
Cal Polys Jeff Johnson (1-1) struck out two in a scoreless inning of relief and earned the win.
The Barons (15-8, 12-8 CCL) had eight hits. Catcher Chad Nacapoy went 3 for 4.
SLO Blues 7, Marysville Gold Sox 5
The Blues scored two runs in the seventh inning to pick up a nonleague victory.
The Blues (17-9) led 5-2 after three innings, but the Gold Sox (17-7) tied the score with three runs in the fourth.
A.J. Robinson went 2 for 3 with a triple, walked twice, scored three times and had an RBI for the Blues.
