The arraignment of a 22-year-old woman accused of vehicular manslaughter after allegedly hitting and killing a CHP officer has been postponed so she can hire a private attorney.
Kaylee Ann Weisenberg's arraignment in court Thursday was postponed until July 8 as her family sought to make arrangements to hire an attorney, said Ken Cirisan, her court-appointed lawyer.
She has been charged with felony vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence and driving with a suspended license in the wake of the crash in Paso Robles.
CHP officer Brett Oswald, 47, had been waiting for a tow truck to haul an abandoned vehicle on South River Road near Spanish Camp Road when Weisenberg turned a corner and lost control just after 6:30 p.m.
Weisenberg allegedly hit the driver's side door as well as the officer, according to officials.
Cirisan said his client was traveling about 60 mph in a 55 mph.
