The intersection of Foothill and California Boulevards will be closed at night from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Wednesday and Thursday nights this week while the city public works department installs new storm drains and traffic signal wiring.
The installations are being completed in conjunction with the citys ongoing Railroad Safety Trail expansion.
The project cost is $521,000.
This phase of the Railroad Safety Trail will link the recently completed Cal Poly bike trail with the section of the citys Railroad Safety Trail located between California Boulevard and the Union Pacific Railroad tracks. The project includes the construction of a new bike trail between Foothill Boulevard and Cal Poly University, as well as the replacement of traffic signal equipment at the intersection of Foothill and California Boulevards.
The work coincides with the academic calendars of both Cal Poly and Cuesta College to minimize traffic impacts to students and residents in the area. Drivers are encouraged to avoid the area and seek alternate routes.
