Paso Robles reached a high temperature of 85 degrees on Monday, and it was 80 in San Luis Obispo. But today's highs across San Luis Obispo County will be noticeably cooler, says local forecaster John Lindsey.
"The month of April is certainly living up to its reputation to as a transitory month between the cool, wet and blustery weather of winter and the warm and dry weather of summer," he noted.
"Today's temperatures will be much cooler, in fact as much as 20 degrees cooler as a cold front, currently pushing through Mendocino and Sonoma counties, moves southward towards the Central Coast," Llindsey said.
Some sprinkles could occur this afternoon ahead of the cold front , Lindsey said. "Frontal passage should occur between 3 and 5 p.m. with light rain. Total rainfall amounts will only range between 0.10 to 0.25 inches," he said.
Snow levels in the Sierra will fall to near 3,500 to 5,000 feet by tonight into Wednesday.
Strong winds and continued cool weather will develop on Wednesday. "Temperatures will be well below normal for the end of April, with Wednesday's temperatures only reaching the high 50s to the low 60s throughout our area," Lindsey said.
According to his forecast, the strongest northwesterly winds should occur on Thursday into Saturday, with sustained winds reaching moderate gale to fresh gale force (32 to 46 mph) with gusts hitting 50 mph along the coastline.
