A Los Osos developer has scheduled an April 21 meeting in Grover Beach to discuss options for the Oceano County Airport.
The meeting is the second in a series of six meetings that Jeff Edwards has planned to discuss options for the 58-acre county-owned airport, which he says could include residential and commercial development, or other visitor-serving amenities.
County officials have said they are not interested in seeing the airport redeveloped.
Edwards said this meeting will feature a local expert in geology and related seismic issues, who will discuss the 2004 San Simeon earthquake and its effects on Oceano.
Were trying to look at positives and negatives and see how it all shakes out, Edwards said.
He declined to identify the expert.
The next meeting will be held at 4 p.m. at the Filipino Community Center, located at 885 S. 13th St. A community center volunteer said the facility could fit 200 people.
Many local pilots who showed up to oppose Edwards plans in March at the Rabobank in Grover Beach were not able to attend the first meeting, due to capacity constraints with the meeting room.
Edwards plans have been met with opposition from both Oceano residents and local pilots, who say the airport is an important local resource as well as a tourist attraction.
