Christine Bare of Pismo Beach is all smiles as she surfs her way to second place in the girl’s longboard division during Good Clean Fun’s Third Annual All Girl Cayucos Pier Classic surf contest Saturday.

She also garnered a first place in the shortboard division. Annette Reder from Morro Bay won the longboard division.

The weekend contest drew female surfers — adults and youths — from Santa Cruz to Santa Barbara, according to event organizers.

With more than 30 competitors, the event was a fundraiser for the local chapter of the environmental organization Surfrider Foundation. A portion of the competition’s proceeds also went to help fund women’s shelters in San Luis Obispo County, according to organizers.
