The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Department posted fliers in Templeton on Wednesday to alert the public of a registered sex offender who last week was parked in an area the Templeton High School girls cross-country team runs through.
Sheriff’s deputies arrested Billy Gene Mannon, 50, on March 10 for possession of methamphetamine. He's since been released pending his court appearance, sheriff’s detective Ron Waltman said. Mannon lives at 1680 Shiloh Place in Templeton, according to fliers posted by the sheriff’s Sexual Assault Felony Enforcement team.
On March 10, deputies found him parked inside his white Toyota Tacoma truck on Moss Lane near El Pomar Road, which is along a route of the cross-country team. Deputies noticed Mannon when he appeared to be under the influence of the drug, authorities said.
“While our investigation continues,” Waltman said, “it is out of an abundance of caution that we made the notification to people in the area who may come in contact or see suspicious acts that are associated with this person.”
His registered sex offender status is linked to a 1986 conviction for “oral copulation with force, violence, etc.,” in Los Angeles, according to authorities.
The following vehicles are associated with Mannon, all with California plates:
• 2001 white Toyota Tacoma flatbed pick up, license plate No. 6M27213
• 1993 white Ford pickup, license plate No. 4U69756
• 2002 white Honda motorcycle, license plate No. 122752P
