A season of heavy El Niño rains has filled Atascadero Lake, which is now exceeding its capacity and flowing off into a spillway that feeds Atascadero Creek. The city has received more than 26 inches of rainfall, second only to San Luis Obispos 30-plus inches, according to Weather Central.
