Jordan Hasay ran a strong anchor leg for the Oregon women’s distance medley relay team to give the Ducks a second-place finish in the event Friday at the NCAA indoor track and field championships in Fayetteville, Ark.
Hasay, running the 1,600-meter leg of the distance medley relay (1,200-400-800-1,600) brought Oregon home in a school-record time of 10 minutes, 58.96 seconds.

The Ducks were second in the event to defending champion Tennessee, which clocked 10:58.37.
Earlier this season, Hasay, a former Mission Prep star, ran the opening leg of the distance medley relay when Oregon set a school record of 10:59.64 in a meet in Texas.
That time was the fastest collegiate time of the season entering Friday’s championships and, at the time, was the fifth-fastest in collegiate history.
Oregon has 13 points after the opening day of the two-day championships and sits in fourth place in the team race behind Auburn (18 points), Tennessee (16) and Arizona (15.5).
Earlier Friday, Hasay posted the third-fastest time in the mile qualifying, finishing in 4:41.89 and easily advancing to today’s final. She was only five-hundredths of a second behind the top time and entered the meet with the third-fastest collegiate time this season.
Hasay is also entered in today’s 3,000-meter final. There were no preliminaries in that event Friday.
BASEBALL
Houston 13, Cal Poly 8
Matt Jensen was 3 for 5, including a solo home run in the loss.
Cal Poly starter Matt Leonard allowed nine runs but only four earned in four innings.
Luke Yoder added two hits, including a three-run homer in the ninth, but the Mustangs trailed by nine runs to start the final frame. Bobby Crocker and David Van Ostrand had two hits each for the Mustangs (6-7).
Cal Poly was outhit 16-11 and made four errors.
Andrew Bruder tossed two scoreless innings in relief for Cal Poly.
The series continues at 6 tonight at Baggett Stadium.
SOFTBALL Iowa State 4, Cal Poly 2; Cal Poly 3, Sacramento State 2
Stephanie Correia had a solo home run for Cal Poly (6-7), which dropped the first game of its Mustang Classic.
The Mustangs led 2-1 until the fourth inning, when Iowa State (11-11) tied the score on a solo home run of its own.
Anna Cahn (3-3) took the loss for Cal Poly, allowing eight hits and striking out five in a complete-game effort.
In the second game, the Mustangs worked through several jams to claim a one-run win.
Sacramento State (4-14) stranded at least one runner in scoring position in all but one inning.
Centerfielder Nora Sobczak was 3 for 4, and Kendall Hennings added two hits for Cal Poly.
MEN’S TENNIS
Cal Poly’s dual at No. 22 Fresno State was postponed because of inclement weather.
The match will likely be rescheduled for later this season.
