Eireal artistry: Claddagh dancers get their Irish up

Irish dancers at the Claddagh School of Irish Dance in San Luis Obispo are preparing for a performance Sunday in Pismo Beach.

The Claddagh Dance Company, with eight studios in California and one in Utah, took two world titles at the World Irish Dancing Championships last year and is heading to Glasgow, Scotland, in a few weeks to compete again, said RaChelle Burke, owner of the San Luis Obispo studio.

The dancers have planned an evening of Irish dining, music and dance at the Pismo Beach Veterans Memorial Building, 780 Bello St., at 5:30 p.m. Sunday.

Tickets are $25; to purchase or for more information contact Burke at rachelle@claddaghdance.com or at 490-9209. For details on the studio, visit www.claddaghslo.com.
