Team HTC-Columbia, the professional cycling team based in San Luis Obispo, will introduce members of its womens squad at a press conference this morning.
HTC-Columbia has its headquarters on OConnor Way. From there it oversees a worldwide effort of racing that resulted in its men and women combining for the most wins of any professional team in 2009.
While the mens team has twice as many members and an extensive calendar of events including competing in cyclings premier event, the Tour de France the womens squad is one of the leading groups on that circuit and also enters races held around the world.
Members expected to be on hand for the media event this morning are top rider Ina-Yoko Teutenberg of Germany as well as Chloe Hosking (Australia), Emilia Fahlin (Sweden), and Americans Kim Anderson and Evelyn Stevens.
HTC-Columbias womens team is fresh off winning the three events held in the Merced Classic competition a week ago. Teutenberg sprinted to win the 115 kilometer road race on Sunday. She also won the events downtown criterium last Saturday, with Hosking taking third, and the squad captured the team time trial race on March 5.
