Police say that burglars stole a safe with more than $200,000 worth of gold coins, jewelry and cash from an Atascadero home Wednesday.
The burglars likely broke in between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m., and seemed specific as to what they wanted to steal from the home on Fresno Avenue between San Jacinto and Rosario avenues the Atascadero Police Department said Thursday.
Officers found a rear bedroom window broken, police said. A woman who lives there had reportedly returned home to find her front door wide open.
Burglars used a furniture dolly from the garage to move the safe out of the house and to an awaiting vehicle, police said.
Crime Stoppers is offering a $5,000 reward for information toward solving the case.
