Alicia Renee Carreras, the 20-year-old woman who died in an early morning car crash on the Nipomo Mesa on Thursday, attended school in the Lucia Mar district.
She attended Harloe Elementary, Paulding Middle School, and graduated from Nipomo High School on June 8, 2007, according to Michelle Ellis, the districts assistant superintendent of human resources.
The CHP has said that Carreras was driving north on Stanton Road south of Lyn Road at approximately 3 a.m. A preliminary investigation showed that the vehicle for an unknown reason veered off the western edge of the road and hit a tree.
No one spotted the crash until a motorist passed by nearly two-and-a-half hours later, according to the CHP.
Carreras, who was alone in the 2005 Nissan Maxima, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Neither drugs nor alcohol are thought to have played a role in the crash, but toxicology reports are still pending, according to CHP.
