An autopsy performed Wednesday on a body found in Pismo Creek ruled out any criminal activity associated with the man's death, Pismo Beach police said Wednesday.
No trauma was found that would indicate foul play, according to a news release from police Cmdr. Jake Miller.
Police are withholding the cause of death pending the results of toxicology tests. The mans name is still being withheld as officials work to identify him.
Police believe the man is a local resident. He was described as white and in his 40s.
A hobbyist photographer came across the mans body about 3:20 p.m. It was 80 to 100 yards east of the Highway 1 overpass at Pismo Creek by Ira Lease Park, Miller said.
The body had been in the creek for more than two days, but less than two weeks, Miller said. He said police do not believe the mans body entered the creek at the point at which it was found, as the area was completely undisturbed and the body likely moved with the tide.
Miller said the man was found with some objects that may help police identify him. Miller did not describe the objects but said that they did not include any standard forms of identification.
