Two people were arrested Monday in Morro Bay on suspicion of possession of stolen property after they allegedly stole brass pieces from yard statues.
An employee at Heilmann Salvage in Atascadero became suspicious of Shelly Renee Davis, 38, and Gustavo Dejesus, 33, when they brought broken finished brass pieces of art into the store.
Their cities of residence were not immediately available.
Investigators said the pair is associated with at least seven theft cases in the North County, and they are looking for other victims.
The brass pieces were taken from front yards of residences, motels and displays, and included dolphin statues and a small boy on a bike. The items are worth about $40,000.
Davis and Dejesus were taken to County Jail.
