Despite a flawless performance from senior James Campbell, the San Luis Obispo High boys tennis team lost 12-6 to visiting San Marcos on Monday afternoon.
Campbell, the Tigers No. 1 singles player, swept his matchups 6-0, 6-0, 6-0. Teammate Coco Angulo won two of his three at the No. 2 spot.
Although San Luis Obispo (0-3) is younger than in years past, Tigers coach Ken Peet compiled a difficult schedule in preparation for upcoming PAC 7 play, he said.
The guys are working hard and were improving, Peet said.
Last season, the Tigers featured eventual UCLA signee Julian Arnold, who never lost in league play before advancing to the quarterfinals of the CIF-Southern Section individual championships.
