A 27-year-old man was sentenced to 10 years in prison on Wednesday after entering a plea in the robbery of a Paso Robles pizza parlor in 2008, according to the District Attorney’s Office.

Justin Thomas Rinker pleaded no contest to second-degree robbery in January after police arrested him on suspicion of robbing Chubby Chandler’s Pizza on Railroad Street at gunpoint about 9 p.m. on Aug. 26, 2008.
A no-contest plea results in a conviction without an admission of guilt and acts similarly to a guilty plea in felony cases.
After the robbery, police said, Rinker barricaded himself in a nearby home on Pine Street.
Rinker was sentenced to two years for second-degree robbery and received an additional eight years because of prior crimes he committed, according to prosecutors.
Charges of burglary and trespassing were dropped under the plea agreement, according to court records.

The stretch of Los Osos Valley Road over Highway 101 will soon be repaved.
Winter storms caused the road’s condition to severely deteriorate, leaving noticeable potholes and poor surface areas that have plagued motorists for months.
The San Luis Obispo City Council agreed Tuesday to allow staff to seek bids for the repair, which is expected to cost about $120,000.
City staff has attempted to place temporary patches on the potholes, but it has not been a good fix, they said.

The Arroyo Grande Fire Department will replace its 23-year-old aerial truck with a new fire truck, which also will be used by the Grover Beach and Oceano fire departments. The three communities have been working to create a consolidated fire agency.
Funding for the new apparatus comes from an $815,625 grant from the 2009 Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program, which is administered by the Federal Emergency Management Agency. If the total cost of the new truck is not covered by the grant, Arroyo Grande, Grover Beach and Oceano will each pay an equal amount to cover the remaining cost.
