Worries about kennel space usually diminish in winter. However this winter, the shelter population looks like July, a notorious time for overcrowding. This is particularly worrisome because were headed into kitten and puppy season, which makes it harder for the adult pets to find homes.
Shiloh is a good example of a cat we hope wont be overlooked. He has a rich black coat, beautiful amber eyes and a gentle nature. Shiloh reaches out from his kennel for petting and rolls on his back for belly rubs. Sometimes when you pet Shiloh, he will reach up and gently touch your face as if to say thank you.
With such behavior, youd assume his family would be missing him. But Shiloh came to the shelter more than a month ago a stray with one torn ear, a bobbed tail and no ID tag or microchip.
With pregnant cats and dogs already arriving at the shelter, were hoping for more adoptions of adult pets like Shiloh to make room for the babies to come. Even though Shiloh is about 4 years old and a big boy, his true nature is that of a mellow kitten waiting for someone to love or to tempt him with a toy.
