The Arroyo Grande High girls soccer team wasn’t happy to share the PAC 7 title with Righetti.
Playing in their first game since a 1-0 loss to the Warriors caused them to tie for the title and take the league’s second seed, the Eagles took their frustrations out on Culver City, winning 5-0 in a CIF-Southern Section Division 3 first-round playoff game Friday.

“Because of the silly tiebreakers, (Righetti) ended up as the first seed,” Arroyo Grande assistant coach Johnnie Reinhardt said, “The team feels like we should have been the first-place seed.”
Reinhardt said the team has picked up the intensity in the wake of the regular season finale.
It showed early.
The Eagles (21-4-1) scored three goals in a five-minute span to claim a 3-0 lead just 13 minutes into the contest.
Maggi Keffury, Ashley Roese and Kate Reinhardt all scored for Arroyo Grande, while Selene Diaz had two assists.
Cheyenne Rodriguez, who was injured on the play that resulted in Righetti’s league-winning goal and was questionable for the first playoff game, returned to make three saves in the shutout.
San Luis Obispo 1, Santa Monica 0; OT
San Luis Obispo’s Shannon Fontes scored the game-winning goal for the Tigers in a road victory over Santa Monica in the first round of the CIF-Southern Section Division 3 playoffs.
The playoffs use a sudden-death format, meaning Fontes’ goal, which was assisted by Kiele Argente ended the game just two minutes into overtime.
“The girls played outstanding and this was a huge win for us. It broke our curse with Santa Monica,” San Luis Obispo coach John Clarke said. Santa Monica had knocked the Tigers out of the playoffs the previous two years, including in 2008 when the team finished 27-1-1.
Mission Prep 7, Firebaugh 0
The top-seeded Royals (11-11) got a hat trick from Kori Disarufino as they dismantled Firebaugh in a CIF-Central Section Division 5 first-round playoff game.
Mission Prep, who led 5-0 at halftime, got a goal each from Tessa Andreini, Andrea Conway, Deirdre Laird and Sydney Ratjens.
“I think we’re learning to spread the play around and are working to make our play less predictable,” Royals coach Marcus des Plantes said. “As we progress through the playoffs, the less predictable our play is, the better it is for us.”
Ella Moberg made four saves for Mission Prep.
