A fruit-tree grafting event hosted by the Central Coast chapter of the California Rare Fruit Growers is set for Saturday.
The organizations 16th annual scion exchange and grafting event will begin at 1:30 p.m. at the Crops Unit at Cal Poly.
The public is invited to attend the free lessons, demonstrations and practice sessions.
Rootstock for apples, plums, peaches, nectarines, pears, almonds and apricots will be available for $2.50 per root.
No grafting experience is necessary.

The LifeBound Leadership Youth Development program in Nipomo recently received funding from the San Luis Obispo County Community Foundations Pathways to Adulthood Enhancement grant.
The grant distributes $19,915 over a two-yearperiod to enhance LifeBounds Youth Leadership Program by including mentoring, job-shadowing and employment skills training opportunities for participants.
LifeBound, which is administered by the Community Action Partnership of San Luis Obispo County Inc., offers the only comprehensive youth leadership program for Hispanic youth in the county, a distinction made possible by a vital partnership with the Visión Unida Community Building Institute.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of San Luis Obispo County and the Boys and Girls Club of South San Luis Obispo County are working with LifeBound on the program.

The Paso Robles City Library is looking for local artists to participate in its 12th Annual Galaxy Juried Art Exhibit set for March 5 through 31.
The deadline for artwork to be delivered is between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. March 3 at the library, 1000 Spring St.
Participating artists must live in San Luis Obispo County and create works in pastel, oil, acrylic, watercolor, mixed media or colored pencil.
Works must also be for sale. The entry fee is $25 for up to two pieces.
The competition will award $400 for first place, donated by the Paso Robles Library Foundation; $300 for second place, donated by Friends of the Library; and $200 for third place, donated by the library Board of Trustees.

Visión Unidas annual leadership program is now accepting applications.
The program develops skills for the countys future leaders and encourages underrepresented populations to become more involved in the community.
The 13-week course, run by the nonprofit group, begins March 16 and consists of lecture topics and exercises ranging from developing management and leadership skills to addressing community issues.
Sessions are presented by selected experts and local leaders in the community, and will take place on Tuesdays from 6 to 9 p.m., beginning with orientation on March 16 and graduation June 9.
The cost of the program is $250 per participant, but scholarships are available to those who request financial assistance. Transportation and child-care may also be available upon request.
