Legendary singer-songwriter Kenny Loggins, pop-rock party band Smash Mouth and classic rock bands America and Blue Oyster Cult are among the acts coming to the California Mid-State Fair this summer, fair officials said Friday.

The newly announced acts – nine in all – join country star Keith Urban on a rapidly growing entertainment roster.

According to marketing director Tom Keffury, the lineup for 2010 fair now include celebrity ventriloquist Jeff Dunham, performing on July 22, and rock n’ roll pioneer Chubby Checker, who popularized the dance craze “The Twist,” on July 27.

America, best known for the song “A Horse With No Name,” performs on the California Mid-State Fair’s opening night, July 21.

The classic rock band is followed July 26 by Blue Oyster Cult, whose hits include “Don’t Fear the Reaper,” “Godzilla” and “Burnin’ for You,” and July 28 by Smash Mouth, which rose to fan in the late 1990s with the songs “Walkin’ On the Sun” and “All Star.”

Country lovers can look forward to performances by trio Stealing Angels, whose members include descendants of John Wayne and Loretta Lynn, on July 29 and singer Julianne Hough, who found fame as a professional dance champion on ABC’s ‘Dancing with the Stars,” on July 30.

Kenny Loggins will bring his crowd-pleasing soft rock sound to “An Evening of Music & Wine” on July 30. His biggest hits include “Footloose,” “Danger Zone” and “Whenever I Call You Friend.”

In addition, the Country Rodeo Finals returns July 31 for a night of barrel racing and bull riding, Keffury said.

The California Mid-State Fair runs July 21 through Aug. 1 at the Paso Robles Event Center, 2198 Riverside Drive in Paso Robles.
