Being older doesnt mean a dog is past his or her prime. Like a good wine, they often improve with age. Sherman is a good example of that.
Sherman has the wisdom of an older dog: He walks well on a leash, has excellent house manners, is quiet and knows his basic obedience.
Like a younger dog, he also loves to play fetch, go for walks and ride in the car. Sherman is also content to lounge around the house while you are away, whereas a younger dog might get into trouble.
A lot of people coming to animal shelters have a hard time understanding that an older dog might be a better match for their lifestyle.
Another plus of adopting Sherman is the senior adoption fee rebate from the Animal Shelter Adoption Partners. If you adopt a San Luis Obispo County Animal Services dog or cat that is at least 8 years old, ASAP will rebate $35 of the adoption fee.
If youre in the market for two dogs, you could adopt Sherman and the dog he arrived with Indie and save $70. The nice thing about adopting two compatible dogs is they will keep each other company while you are away.
Christmas is a wonderful time of giving, and giving the gift of a home to a senior dog or cat is a beautiful gift indeed.
