Several Cuesta College athletes earned All-Western State Conference honors Monday.
In cross country, Morro Bay High grad Kelly Barmann, a freshman who won the WSC championship and earned All-State honors, was the Cougars top womens finisher in every race, and never finished worse than second at any event.
She earned all-conference first-team honors, as did Atascadero High grad Paige Peterson. On the second team were Jennifer Love and Taylor Anderson. Arroyo Grande High alumna Christine Tellez was an honorable mention.
On the mens side, Paul Denlinger of Templeton and Jehan Mirzaei of Arroyo Grande were named to the first team, while Taylor Castañon of Mission Prep made the second squad. Paso Robles Gabriel Flores and Atascaderos Andrew Bremer were honorable mentions.
Meanwhile, six Cuesta womens soccer players were named to the All-WSC team.
The Cougars first-team picks there were Paso Robles High grad Corrine Story and Ashton Swiacki, both sophomores. Story was a second-team selection as a freshman before taking on an expanded role this year.
Second-team choices were Arroyo Grande native Arriel Stroub and Ashley McLachlan. Paso Robles Highs Cherish Bonomi was an honorable mention, as was Sarah Wheeler. Wheeler had a team-best 10 points on five goals for Cuesta, which relied on its defense this season, tallying 20 goals in 19 games.
