The Cuesta College mens basketball team got 13 points, seven rebounds and three assists from former Templeton High standout Seth Koenig in a 70-62 win over College of the Siskiyous on Thursday in a quarterfinal game at the Mendocino Invitational.
The Cougars (4-0) jumped out to a 16-point lead in the first half but allowed COS back into the game.
We reached a lull during a period between the end of the first half and the first 10 minutes of the second, Cuesta head coach Rusty Blair said. We werent boxing out and allowed them to have a lot of second chances.
After the Eagles cut the lead to six, Cuesta guard Ralphie Santos hit two 3-pointers to put the game out of reach.
It wasnt necessarily exciting, Blair said. But we grinded it out and made sure we prevailed.
Henok Yigzaw added 13 points and six rebounds for the Cougars, who will play Las Positas at 5 p.m. today in a tournament semifinal.
