DAVIS The Cal Poly football team gave up a first half lead on the road once again and lost posession of the Golden Horseshoe trophy for the first time in four years as UC Davis rallied for a 23-10 win today.
The Mustangs, who led 10-7 at halftime, have had leads in their past four road games but have struggled to hold the advantage in the second half and ended up losing each time.
Cal Poly (4-5, 1-2 Great West Football Conference) is now 0-5 both on the road and on artificial turf. The Mustangs must now win their final two games of the season to avoid finishing with their first losing record since 2003.
Cal Poly had won the past three meetings with the Aggies (5-4, 2-1 Great West), and the Mustangs seniors came into the game looking to become the first four-year class to go unbeaten against UC Davis.
