San Luis Obispo police were looking Wednesday for a witness who may have photographed the assailant in the case where a man reportedly walked up and struck a 15-year-old girl in the face downtown on Oct. 3.
Moments after that assault, police report, a witness told the victims mother that she had taken pictures of the suspect. The woman provided the victims mother with her name and phone number, according to police, but that information was not retained.
The San Luis Obispo Police Department urges this witness and anyone else who may have information to contact the police department at 805-781-7337.
The girl had to have her jaw wired shut to recover from the injury.
The incident occurred in the 700 block of Higuera Street at 12:55 p.m. on Oct. 3. The man reportedly walked up to the girl and struck her in the face, breaking her jaw.
He was described from witness accounts as an unshaven white male, age 25 to 30, with short dark hair. He was wearing a white T-shirt, a blue athletic jacket and blue jeans, police said.
