Prep Roundup: Arroyo Grande boys go 1-2 in water polo tourney

The Arroyo Grande High boys water polo team played its second day at the Servite Tournament, going 1-2 Saturday in Anaheim.

The Eagles lost to Bonita 15-9, lost to Righetti 14-2 and beat San Dimas 16-1.

Eric Marsh and Adam Stevens each scored three goals for Arroyo Grande against Bonita, and Casey Higginbotham had two goals and Ryan Morgan and John Kullman had a combined nine saves.

Arroyo Grande (17-10) played league opponent Righetti in their second game of the tournament and lost 14-2.

Griffin Chanley and Kevin Meffert each had one goal in the loss to Righetti.

Stevens led the Eagles with four goals against San Dimas, and Ryan Higginbotham and Riley Laughton each added three goals.

Football

North County Christian High’s Daniel Katches had 63 rushing yards, and Josh Feld had 94 total yards in a 34-18 Coast Valley League football loss to Valley Christian on Saturday.

The Lions’ win, coupled with a Shandon loss, clinched the CVL title for Valley Christian (6-1-1, 3-0).

North County Christian (0-8, 0-4) took an early 6-0 lead as quarterback Keelan Willison found Austin Boggan for a 21-yard touchdown. But Valley Christian scored 34 consecutive points to put the game out of reach.

Feld, who rushed 11 times for 36 yards and caught six passes for 59 yards, scored the final touchdown of the game on a 1-yard run in the fourth quarter.
