One North County mixed-media artist hopes to create a multifaceted venue for wine and art with the construction of his new 3,000-square-foot wine tasting room in southern Paso Robles.
Artist Dale Evers is building seven wine-pouring spaces as part of his 10-acre Dragonfly Gardens development a venue with outdoor sculpture displays and working art studios at 3055 Limestone Way.
Construction of the tasting room began a year ago, he said, and is the first phase of a $20 million development slated for completion in April 2010. The second phase is set to begin afterward, with plans for additional business spaces for coffee roasters, olive oil vendors and a kitchen and patio area. An expansion of the gardens with trails is also in the mix, he said.
The tasting booths, starting at rents of $1,000 per month, are being marketed as a stepping-stone for wineries producing roughly 200 cases per year.
The idea is to provide a place and an experience where people come, relax, enjoy the gardens, witness working artists fulfilling their muse and taste up to seven different wines, Evers said of the development.
