Local CD pick of the week
The Levi ValentinesThe album starts with a tribal march, dives into British punk and somewhere along the line winds up with a banjo song. And for that local flair, theres even a tune about the SLOs landmark, Bubblegum Alley. The Levi Valentines, a favorite at the old Dwelling in SLO, dont take themselves too seriously. But they are competent musicians, with sensible guitar solos, booming drums and quirky, sometimes distorted vocals. With songs like the rocking Bombastic Superfantastic and the acoustic Flowers for Leadora, theres a good deal of variety here. --Pat Pemberton
