Five local teens were arrested Sunday after a neighbor reportedly spotted them drinking alcoholic beverages and carrying a handgun, Sheriffs officials said.
Deputies responded to the 300 block of Saturn Court in Nipomo at 7:42 p.m. after a nearby resident reported seeing seven teens, some of whom were underage, drinking and holding a handgun.
When deputies arrived, they said they found a .357 Magnum revolver on Alexis Ortiz, 18, of Nipomo. He was arrested on suspicion of handgun possession.
Deputies also arrested Alfredo Yepez, 19, on outstanding felony warrants and Freddy Ramirez, 20, on suspicion of possessing brass knuckles.
A 16-year-old Nipomo boy was arrested on outstanding felony warrants; a 14-year-old was arrested on a probation violation. Their names were not released because they are minors.
The remaining teens were released from the scene.
Each individual was believed to be a member or affiliate of a South County criminal gang, deputies said.
