If nature and the beaches aren’t enough for your activity-craving kids, there’s a small, bayfront skate park at Coleman Park, on Embarcadero as you drive out to the Rock. It’s open to skateboarders and rollerbladers with a complete waiver/release of liability and a helmet, elbow pads and knee pads. Admission is $2. Hours vary by season. Summer: noon-5 p.m. Monday-Saturday. Fall: 3 p.m.-dusk Thursday-Friday and noon-5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Winter: 3 p.m.-dusk Friday and noon-5 p.m. Saturday-Sunday. Spring: 3 p.m.-dusk Monday, Wednesday and Friday and noon-5 p.m. Saturday-Sunday. Call 805-772-6212 for information.

There’s a BMX bike park at the corner of Park Street and Atascadero Road off Highway 1. Open daily dawn to dusk. Participants ride at their own risk. Helmets required. Call 805-772-6278 for information.
