You don’t need to spend a mini-mint to play a course with stunning ocean vistas. At Morro Bay Golf Course (201 State Park Road, 805-782-8060), the tree-lined fairways frame perfect ocean panoramas, the hillside setting challenges golfers of all abilities and greens fees are just $9-$44. The county course inside Morro Bay State Park has been called the "poor man’s Pebble Beach." But with greens fee there upwards of $400, we call Morro Bay the smart man’s Pebble Beach.

Cruise out to the Rock or down to the marina and Tidelands Park on a bike rented from Morro Bay Cyclery (214 Beach St. 805-772-0208). Get a beach cruiser for $5 per hour, or $20 for the full day.
