Most travel e-mail newsletters are delivered weekly, though a few go out monthly. To sign up for them, just go to the company's Website listed below; the e-mail signup feature is usually obvious. You can cancel your subscription at any time.
Here are a few faves that are worth the clutter:
- SmarterTravel, www.smartertravel.com: If you subscribe to only one, make it SmarterTravel. This weekly missive pulls together specials from airlines and other travel providers in a single place. What makes this most valuable is they provide links for deals from any city you specify, so you don't have to slog through all the offerings to find relevant deals.
- Last-minute deals: A number of sites specializing in last-minute offers will send you their weekly deals. Among them are TripMania, www.tripmania.com; Travel Zoo, www.travelzoo.com; eLeisureLink, www.eleisurelink.com (for cruises), and LastMinuteTravel, www.lastminutetravel.com. Our faves comes from Site59, www.site59.com, and Hotwire, www.hotwire.com, which send deals only from your home city.
- WheretoGoNext, www.wheretogonext.com: Delivered every business day, this letter draws together press releases from the travel industry. Though oriented to the trade, if you're a travel junkie, you'll be interested in hot deals, new hotels and other newsy tidbits.
- GoNomad, www.gonomad.com: Delivered montly, this letter delivers editorial articles about adventure travel. The site itself includes both articles and booking links, but the emphasis is on information.
- Farealert, www.farealert.net, will zip you a note when there's an outrageously good fare available, such as $51 from Los Angeles to Fiji.

- Don't use profanities, vulgarities or hate speech. This is a general interest news site. Sometimes, there are children present. Don't say anything in a way you wouldn't want your own child to hear.
- Do not attack other users; focus your comments on issues, not individuals.
- Stay on topic. Only post comments relevant to the article at hand. If you want to discuss an issue with a specific user, click on his profile name and leave him a public message.
- Do not copy and paste outside material into the comment box.
- Don't repeat the same comment over and over. We heard you the first time.
- Do not use the commenting system for advertising. That's spam and it isn't allowed.
- Don't use all capital letters. That's akin to yelling and not appreciated by the audience.
You should also know that The Tribune does not screen comments before they are posted. You are more likely to see inappropriate comments before our staff does, so we ask that you click the "report abuse" button to submit those comments for moderator review. You also may notify us via email at webmaster@thetribunenews.com. Note the headline on which the comment is made and tell us the profile name of the user who made the comment. Remember, comment moderation is subjective. You may find some material objectionable that we won't and vice versa.
