Obama thwarts Clinton
B arack Obama has presented himself since his 2004 Democratic National Convention speech as a leader who can unite America across the political and racial divides. Obama’s long association with the Rev. Jeremiah Wright contradicts this assertion.
While invoking God and black theology at the pulpit, Wright says the federal government manufactured the AIDS virus to kill black people, celebrates Louis Farrakhan as a great man and likens American soldiers to terrorists. While Obama has admonished Wright for these comments, he definitely tolerated them for a long time. This suggests, if not proves, Obama is a divider and not a uniter. Obama’s association with Wright has unintentionally but effectively employed the “race card.”
Ninety percent of black people in Pennsylvania voted for Obama. This is an exemplification of racial politics that, along with black theology, is expressively anti-white.
Does Obama admonish black people to be objective in their voting? Has he specifically admonished Wright for his politically motivated anti-white diatribes? Absolutely not. Obama relishes the dedicated black vote.
Are Democrats serious that this man should be their nominee for president? Obama has probably ruined Hillary Clinton’s once-certain election to be the next Democratic president. Way to go, Obama!

Pollution in the bay
My husband and I were having dinner by the water in Morro Bay recently when we noticed some awful pollution flowing with the current toward Los Osos. It looked like the stuff that comes out of the washing machine. Surely this was not anything natural that was occurring in the bay. It continued the entire time we were eating dinner.
Oh, how I would have liked to have had a member of the Regional Water Quality Control Board sitting with us to see it and then tell us that our septic tanks are the only thing that are polluting the bay.
I would like to know why this problem is not being addressed or at least talked about when our sewer is being discussed.

Water, oil will ruin us
Since the early ’50s, this nation has been spoiled with unchecked consumption freedoms. Globalization and population growth have created a new scenario that has been ignored by politicians and the people.
Water and energy conservation are a way of life that must be actively taught and will take at least one generation to implement to any meaningful degree.
Any politician who is telling a different story and peddling “immediate gratification” is deceiving the public and ill-serving the nation.
Unless we wake up to reality, water and oil will destroy this country.

Signs are quite telling
H ave you seen them? Mixed in with the poppies and the mustard flowers blooming in the undeveloped areas along our 3rd District roads and highways, there’s a fresh crop of big Jerry Lenthall campaign signs. This doesn’t seem a coincidence because those are the very areas that will get big, ugly, traffic-congesting sprawl if Mr. Lenthall is re-elected.
I urge all my fellow 3rd District residents who care about the future of our county to spend your vote on the smart-growth candidate who will fight for our quality of life: Adam Hill.

Dedicated, caring man
I have known Jerry Lenthall since he first joined the San Luis Obispo Police Department. I have found him to be a dedicated and caring individual with unlimited integrity. Since he was elected to the county Board of Supervisors, he has retained these fine attributes and shown that he is a very capable leader.
Without reservation nor hesitation, I strongly recommend that Jerry Lenthall be re-elected as our 3rd District supervisor.

Oil was the reason
I am profoundly disturbed by the Iraq war apologists who support the toppling of Saddam Hussein with a series of specious arguments. I ask why we don’t attack all of the other cruel dictatorships that exist in the world. The answer is obvious to me—OIL.
