A driver accidentally rammed a vehicle into part of the Palm Theater today, creating a gaping hole in the wall to the left of the entrance and exposing the entrance to the women's bathroom.
Police said a motorist was entering the city parking garage across the street from the theater, which is located at 817 Palm St. The driver’s foot slipped onto the accelerator, causing the vehicle to quickly back up into the theater.
No one was hurt in the mishap.
But theater owner Jim Dee said the 1:30 p.m. showing is canceled. He hopes to have emergency repairs made in time for the rest of the showings to be held.
Dee said the incident marked the third time a driver has crashed into his building since he’s owned it.
Dee said he hopes to be able to show the 4:15 p.m. screenings.
"The main thing is that she wasn't hurt," Dee said of today's crash.
